Imagine a new kind of university that has reinvented the way we learn and interact with one another.
In a superb natural setting with beautiful permaculture gardens…
… the main university building is an elegant palace or castle that provides a blissful learning experience.
It is a university that offers a holistic education that creates mature, kind, and competent graduates.
Why is a new university needed?
Most current universities use a 19th-century education model. They are too bureaucratic, full of boring lectures, textbooks, and exams.
They clutter students’ brains with too much useless knowledge. And students are not learning how to lead healthy lifestyles, nor are they taught how healthy human relationships work.
Universities don’t teach practical skills like how to make money, how to reach emotional maturity, or how to become good parents.
Not only are universities too expensive, but they are not open to new visionary ideas (the "peer" system).
Yet, there is one good thing about universities, and we are going to keep that…
But before I go there, let’s see what an improved university could look like.
How do we fix this?
As J.K. Rowling said, “We have the power to imagine better.”
We want young people to apply for a life, not only to apply for school and a job.
Let’s reinvent education.
Let’s make learning fun by linking it to fictional stories, playing games, learning in nature, or building things together.
Let’s learn useful stuff like how to build intentional communities, grow healthy food, and become good life partners and parents.
Let’s create masterworks in literature, art, furniture, clothes, architecture, and landscaping.
Let’s teach students how to find their passions and monetise them.
Let’s make learning more affordable by teaching each other and helping out with everything that community life requires.
From university to multiversity
Let's expand the concept of university and not restrict ourselves to a single 'universe'. That limits our creative potential.
So, join The Grooters and other fictional characters at Splendour Multiversity to discover what’s beyond our universe. That way, we can improve the one we live in.
Now, I said that current universities are doing one thing right (two, actually).
Indeed. Despite all the flaws of universities and colleges, many adults still long for that period of their lives when they were students.
It is the community component, the social relations we have at universities that make this difference. And that’s something we want to enhance at Splendour Multiversity.
We want future students to learn how to create such ‘college-like’ environments to live in, even after their studies.
Because we don't want 100 people to die every hour due to loneliness.*
And in case you were wondering, the second thing many university campuses do right is that they keep car traffic out, minimising noise.
